Maysville

Maysville, a restaurant in Manhattan’s Flatiron district, tells the story of bourbon’s tradition in America. Maysville draws inspiration from the past to create a classic contemporary space that is architecturally defined by large columns and beams. Within the architectural bays on the ceiling, a sprawling lighting installation of glowing paper lanterns evokes the familiar patterns of farm fields in America’s Midwest and casts a welcoming amber glow. Small brass sconces at eye level illuminate both guests and three monumental drawings of grazing horses. Grey and white checkered floors, grass-cloth walls, glossy paneled bar, and tufted banquets all recall the traditional markings of historic restaurants. Maysville’s extensive American whiskey collection is showcased in a custom designed oak cabinet. The rear wall of the main dining room is a play of gold framed vintage mirrors, art and windows that both look into and provide views from the private dining room. In Maysville, the traditional and the contemporary coalesce to create a space that feels both classic and timeless.
