Watermill Interior

While the Hamptons are well known for charming historic clapboard cottages and estates, they are also becoming home to a younger generation who prefer their beachside living without the stylistic limitations of driftwood gray. These interiors for a growing family celebrates the idea of grandeur and scale and reinterpret it through the use of vintage and modern furniture, carefully deployed through large airy spaces. The focus of the multi-height living room is a dramatic twenty four foot custom designed chandelier. Equally inspired by Brancusi’s endless column and the lightness of box kites, this chandelier is fabricated of mica sheets within brass frames. A cascade of crystals falls from top to bottom. Sculptural and translucent during the day and breathtaking at night, this chandelier offers light, drama and spatial definition. The custom monolithic onyx chandelier in the dining room provides a counterpoint of weighty suspension, while maintaining the diffusion of glowing tawny light.
